DsRed-Express2 Fluorescent Protein
EN
DsRed-Express2 encodes a rapidly maturing tetrameric red fluorescent protein that emits bright red fluorescence. The protein was engineered from the original Discosoma DsRed fluorescent protein to minimize cytotoxicity while maintaining strong fluorescence and improved photostability. It functions as a reporter protein that allows visual identification, tracking, and monitoring of genetically modified cells and organisms. DsRed-Express2 exhibits excitation and emission maxima of approximately 554 nm and 591 nm, respectively, and provides strong constitutive fluorescence in a wide variety of organisms and cell types. It is widely used as a marker for transformation events, transgene expression, lineage tracing, and detection of genetically modified organisms. In the NovoFly™ strain, DsRedex2 is expressed constitutively under the control of the Lucilia cuprina hsp83 promoter and produces detectable red fluorescence in all tissues and life stages, enabling identification and monitoring of transgenic individuals.
